At Nativity Prep, academics is just one component of the formation of our students. Nativity Prep launched its middle school Ambassador Program in 2018 with the goal of developing our students’ interpersonal and leadership skills. A founding principle of the school is “cura personalis,” which is the Ignatian-inspired model of caring for the whole person.
The responsibility of Nativity Prep’s 15 volunteer Ambassadors is to represent their fellow classmates in social settings, including campus tours, donor engagement events, public speaking opportunities, as well to write thank you and get well notes to members of our community. Rafiq, a sixth grader who enthusiastically joined the Ambassador program shared, “I love being an Ambassador, as I get to meet new people at cool events and I get to wear my Ambassador jacket.”
In December, six middle school ambassadors volunteered to attend an awareness-raising event held at the home of Nativity Prep Board member, Barbara Kyrillos. The students welcomed guests to the event with a warm smile and a firm handshake, then engaged in the social portion of the evening. Nativity Prep’s Philanthropy Manager, Brian Hickey, shared, “The faculty and staff are blessed to interact with these amazing students every day; the Ambassador Program not only offers a chance for us to introduce them to the outside world, but it provides great social development opportunities for our students.”
If you or someone you know has an interest in taking a tour of Nativity Prep’s middle school campus, we have plenty of Ambassadors waiting for the chance to show you their school!
