Nativity Prep Academy would like to thank the Rancho Santa Fe Women’s Fund for their generous grant of $50,000 which will provide seven students with scholarships to attend private, college-prep high schools and SAT/ACT preparation classes for more than 25 of our graduates preparing for this important exam. This grant was especially meaningful because an anonymous donor stepped forward last week with a pledge so help fully fund Nativity Prep’s original request of $50,000.
Because the students who attend Nativity Prep face unique challenges as low-income students that will represent the first generation in their family to earn a college degree, the school has developed an equally unique and comprehensive program to help assure our students success. Nativity Prep makes an 11-year commitment to our students that extends long after they graduate from middle school. With the support of benefactors like the Rancho Santa Fe Women’s Fund, the school guides their graduates through high school, college, and beyond by providing weekly workshops, summer programming, and other support services to earn a college degree.
After receiving news that Nativity Prep was selected as a grant recipient, one of the school’s alumni, Jennifer, helped accept the award at the Rancho Santa Fe Women’s Fund reception. Jennifer shared, “I’m inspired by the women of the Rancho Santa Fe Women Club. They really care about helping others in the community. Now, thanks to them, another generation of our students will have the chance to earn their college degree.” Jennifer, who graduated from Nativity Prep in 2005, was able to continue her education on scholarship at the Academy of Our Lady of Peace, graduating there in 2009, and then continue on to earn here degree from San Diego State University. Jennifer recently accepted her first professional job at San Diego Gas & Electric.
Thank you, Rancho Santa Fe Women’s Fund, for investing in our students, turning dreams into degrees.
