Graduate Support Program: College Road Trip

Thanks to Nativity Prep’s tireless Graduate Support team, we added an additional college road trip to the calendar this year. Chaperoned by two members of our Graduate Support team, 10 high school seniors from Cathedral Catholic and Our Lady of Peace made a day trip in early December, in the pouring rain, to the University of Southern California. Our students met with USC student ambassadors for an admissions information session and tour.

But the highlight for everyone was meeting with Nativity Prep graduate Milenia, currently a sophomore at USC. Ms. Alvarez, Nativity Prep’s Associate Director of Graduate Support shared, “It was incredibly meaningful for our students to hear from someone who has been where they are and graduated from Nativity Prep; it makes this vision of college graduation real.”

When they say the road to college graduation is bumpy, they might have been talking about this road trip, as halfway to USC the back tire of our 15-passenger school van blew out while driving north in the carpool lane of the 405 freeway. But God was looking after this determined group, as they were able to safely pull off the freeway and immediately into a tire repair store, which got them back on the road in under 30 minutes. The high school seniors and our staff persevered, continued to campus, and had a great experience and overview of college life.
